Wicko Design was founded in 2007 by David Wickstead. Initially focusing primarily on the visual arts, David quickly recognised his innate talents and capabilities from learning rudimentary coding at the age of 14 (prior to the emergence of bands like Oasis, Blur, and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers).
It was roughly ten years prior in 1990 that David earned his BA and HND in Graphic Design and Typography from the LCP (London College of Printing). Having self-taught basic coding at the tender age of 14, it was a natural progression for David into the digital web design realm. With ease, David undertook digital projects ranging from simple web design, 3D graphics video and animation to comprehensive e-commerce web design platforms.
Assembling a team, David supervises all projects with a cadre of experts to manage all projects from inception to publication and promotion. Offering continual personal support to enhance and upkeep client websites.

In 2016, he was invited by Oliver Agency in London to work in-house at Talkmobile HQ in Newbury, focusing on their front-end web design. David served there for 18 months until Vodafone, the parent company of Talkmobile, decided to shut Talkmobile and transition all customers into Vodafone. Oliver was reluctant to part ways with David and sought to utilise his skills across various clients. He was then assigned to PepsiCo for 8 months, creating artwork for POS, followed by Britvic where he worked on video animations, brochures and POS for beverage brands, then onto ATOS working on html web design presentations and finally 3M where he worked on brochures and video animations.
In 2019, David felt he was deviating from his natural path and left Oliver to join ONI, working with the former MD from Talkmobile on the ONI web design. In 2020, he embarked on another project with another director from Talkmobile, which concluded as lockdown was imposed.
In June 2020, he was approached by Phil Roberson, the former principal of both directors from Talkmobile, and was asked to work on a mobile phone accessories project with Kid-A. The web design project was for Vodafone which commenced it in August 2020, constructing an e-commerce website within 2 months and then PEN tested (website security) before launching in November 2020. 90% of the web design, build and development was by David Wickstead from inception to publication, including all integration with fulfilment centres and payment gateways. Within 6 months of launch, the website had generated over half a million pounds in revenue. Wicko continued to maintain the website for 2 years before completely handing over to Vodafone.

Leveraging the experience from the Vodafone project, David has assisted numerous smaller e-commerce web design businesses in developing and maintaining their websites.
